Hey Momma…You Are Exactly Where You Are Supposed To Be

0

Oh great, another blog post with someone giving you advice on being a mom. Exactly what you need to read and possibly roll your tired and overwhelmed eyes at. Right?

As a blogger, I clearly love to write but also read other blogs with helpful tips, the latest mom trends, and things like “how to stay sane when you are outnumbered by tiny humans”. But the blogs and articles that truly take to heart aren’t the ones of how perfect you can organize your kids legos or how you potty trained your 2 year old twins in less than a day (if you know how to do this, call me!). This blog post is something that I have been reflecting on as the holidays have passed and we gear up for a brand new year. A clean slate. A new chapter in this novel of life we are writing.

You are exactly where you are supposed to be. Let that sink in a moment.

Chances are, if you are reading this, then you are a momma and also wondering how to navigate through this “mom life” on a daily basis. I definitely am. We see so much through social media…perfect pictures of families, women who lost the baby weight before they left the hospital, beautifully decorated homes that appear to have not a spec of dust anywhere and so on. I admit it to you now…I am a mother of 3 kids 2 and under and I WANT my house and life to be clean and pretty, but it isn’t. Not all the time. I sit back and think to my life before kids and how I could just pick up and go anywhere, whenever I wanted to! Not worrying about loading the kids up or finding a sitter. Or even worse, having mom guilt for leaving the kids with my mom for longer than I expected. I could clean my house without having to re-clean it again in an hour. I could workout and then go to brunch or coffee with friends.

Some days, being a mom downright stinks. It just does. You want to be back at work or out doing things where you are making a difference and name for yourself. Something you are passionate about. Something you are GOOD at. Because you don’t feel like you are good at being a mom everyday. You don’t feel like you are where you are supposed to be sometimes. You are constantly trying to move into a different season.

You are exactly where you are supposed to be Momma! It is hard for me to remember that more days than not. That is ok…or I’m trying to be ok with it. But if you are anything like me, you need to hear it. From another mom in the thick of it, you are. So maybe 2019 will bring lots of fun and unique experiences, and I hope that it does, but it is also ok to sit still and breath. Be where you are supposed to be and not force another season.

Ashleigh Daniel
Ashleigh is a mother to 3 tiny humans all within a year’s age difference! She has a set of twins (Evie Claire and Decker) and a little girl named Mary Catherine who surprised them! She and her family recently moved to St. Louis after living in Houston, TX for the past 8 years. They are so excited to continue their journey here as her husband is originally from around this area. As for Ashleigh, she’s a born and raised Mississippi girl but has loved living in big cities such as Houston and now St. Louis. When she’s not blogging or “momming”, she enjoys Pure Barre, reading a good book, traveling, farmer’s markets, and exploring new restaurants. She looks forward to getting to know the St. Louis community more!
