All the Summer Family Fun Out in St. Charles County

0

When I lived in South St. Louis city,  my husband and I were always attending festivals, fun new restaurant openings, and other city events.  I enjoyed it and loved the community feel those events brought.  When I moved to St. Charles county, (O’Fallon) in December 2016, I was so excited to be moving to a “small town” and secretly hoped there would be things to do.

The first year we lived in St. Charles county I was pregnant so I really didn’t go many places.  Then the second year I had a small baby so I still didn’t go anywhere.  You guys know that feeling of, “I want to go try new things but, then I have to take the diaper bag, the stroller, AND the baby.”  So I never ventured out.  Now that my son is almost two, I feel like we can now really begin trying all the summer fun!

So what is there to do out here in St. Chuck?  Well, there’s a lot more than you think! Here are a few ideas.

Splash Station Aquatic Center
1141 Peine Rd.
Wentzville, MO 63385

This is a fun place to go play with your littles and get some sun.  Entry fee is $8.25 for a non-resident and $6.00 for a resident (13 and under).  They are open Monday-Friday noon-6:30 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 11 am-7 pm.  What is most exciting about the Splash Station is they have a water playground for kiddos 48 inches and under as well as a Tot Swim on Mondays and Wednesdays before the pool opens from 10:30-11:30 am.

Play Street Museum
1650 Beale Street #138
St. Charles, MO 63303

Sammy and I went for the first time a week ago and LOVED this place.  First of all, it is a smaller venue so I didn’t need to run  to make sure he stayed safe.  It is set up as a little town with a ton of hands-on activities and imaginative play for all.  I loved the full scale light bright in the back.  You reserve a time slot and play for that hour and a half and for us that was just enough time.  They even give a snack on the way out so littles can transition with less frustration.  It’s ideally for kiddos 1-8 and has an admission fee of $11.50.

Lake St. Louis Farmers & Artists Market

My new favorite thing is the Lake St. Louis Farmers  and Artists Market.  It is open every Saturday from April to November 8 am – 12 pm.  It’s located at The Meadows shopping center and hosts 75 vendors each week!  There is also an AMAZING little coffee shop, Roasted Coffee and Wine Bar that you can visit while you’re perusing.

O’Fallon Jammin
308 Civic Park Dr.
O’Fallon, MO 63366

This is a free Tuesday night concert series from 6:30 pm-9 pm during the summer, complete with food trucks and community.  Civic Park has paved walkways and playgrounds for the kids, so don’t forget to bring your lawn chair (I ALWAYS forget mine) and enjoy a night out!

Food Truck Frolic and Movie Nights
at St. Charles Community College
Red Parking Lot and Campus Plaza

This is where the big ticket is for me!  On Fridays this summer and fall, (June 21, July 19, August 23, September 20, and October 5) there will be a ton of food, music, and as mentioned above, movies!  This is such a relaxing and fun way to hang out with your family.  We’re definitely going to try it this year and this is totally free!

This is obviously not EVERYTHING going on out in St. Charles County this summer but this is a good place to start.  I hope to see you guys at the pool, bartering over handmade goods at the market, or under the stars!

PS- Don’t forget, whether you go to every fun family event this summer or go to none, you are an amazing mom!
