Meet Your St. Louis Moms Blog Team
Lauren, a Saint Louis native, is a Newborn Sleep Consultant and mother of two, constantly learning how to embrace the chaos and change motherhood brings. She changed jobs, moved twice, married her high school sweetheart and had twin boys in the same calendar year! Originally trained to design, build and fit prosthetic limbs, Lauren now channels her energy to educate, empower, and equip mamas to overcome the overwhelm during the newborn season of parenting. Lauren taught her newborn twins to sleep twelve hours a night by the time they were twelve weeks old and created a business and sleep consulting service, the TinyTracker, to help parents do the same. She’s just the right mix of “got-her-ship-together” and “totally winging it” with equal parts advice, encouragement, and raw transparency. She’s always on the hunt for the best gluten free pizza in town and lives for dark chocolate, exercise, her family and lazy days at the beach.
Ashley and her husband, Matthew, relocated to St. Louis from coastal South Carolina with their growing family (one toddler, one infant and pit bull rescue). After three previous losses and becoming a survivor of postpartum depression, Ashley hopes to share her family’s story so that others can see that no matter how dark some days can be there is always hope. You’ll also find her talking about ways to incorporate her passions and culture into her daughter’s lives. On her personal blog, Out of Ash’s, Ashley explores faith, family and her life’s frivolous footnotes.
Jessie is mama to two boys (Carter and Hudson) and wife to Greg. If they aren’t spending time in their backyard swimming, you can find Jessie and her crew hitting up local restaurants or at their all-time favorite STL spot, Grant’s Farm! Jessie spends her time working full time in Human Resources, and being on the board of her kids PTO!
Angela Nelson Baker moved to the St Louis area for grad school 18 years ago and never looked back. Currently she lives in West St Louis County with her husband, two young daughters, a miniature schnauzer and two wily cats. Outside of working and #momlife, Angela enjoys politics, true crime podcasts, HIIT workouts, and drinking a cup of good coffee before it gets cold. Her passion is empowering working mothers and advocating for family-friendly policies in her workplace.
Melissa is a mom to a little boy, a wife, daughter, friend, and special education teacher. She enjoys reading, being with family and friends, and watching movies!
Zoe is fulfilling her dream of being a foster mom of three (sometimes five, sometimes two) who, on the side, works full-time for an international corporation. Challenges and chaos are embraced and there is always time for more commitments, and, usually, her partner acquiesces. Zoe’s favorite activity is advocating for her foster kiddos and least favorite activity is managing the guilt of a working traveling mom. Her favorite splurges involve her neighborhood tea and pie shops and a soak in the tub. Zoe is learning the tricks of this (foster) parenting trade, one humiliating lesson at a time.
Lindsay Fischer is many things: a former high school English teacher, a domestic violence survivor, an infertility warrior, and a boy/girl twin momma to her IVF babes. She writes books to help herself and others heal, and she shares more truth at complicatedmommies.com. She’s also the cofounder of the InfertileAF Summit. So far, adversity hasn’t stopped her from building a life she loves full of laughter with her husband, Joe, and her 16-month olds, Josefina (Joey) and Lucas (Luke).
Amanda is a native St. Louisan. Amanda is married to David and they live in St. Louis City. They have three children, Jeana (2013), Solomon (2015) and Rosa (2018). Amanda currently works part-time as a family nurse practitioner, primarily with women and children, and stays home part-time with her children. She enjoys getting out to explore St. Louis with the kids (especially if it involves coffee), reading and listening to medical information about women’s health and breastfeeding, fruitlessly attempting to keep a clean house, and watching Jeopardy with her husband.
Courtney and her husband Matt were born and raised in St. Louis. Courtney stays home with their little boy, Noah and is a certified run coach and trainer. She found her passion in health and fitness through her own journey to better health, losing 50 pounds with good old fashioned diet and exercise. She has ten years of experience coaching run groups with Fleet Feet, Fit4Mom and she now coaches her own local Run Club here in St. Louis. A former ‘couch potato’ to marathoner, she even ran a half marathon during each trimester of her pregnancy. Besides running, she loves early morning workouts at Burn Bootcamp, traveling, running around town in her workout clothes and baseball cap, spending time with her family and relaxing with a glass of wine! She’s all about having fun, laughing, spreading positivity, meeting new people and motivating others to live their happiest, healthiest life. She is thrilled to be a part of the STL Moms Blog team and can’t wait to share her health and fitness tips with you!
Shifra is originally from Virginia. She went to high school in Silver Spring, MD and lived in Jerusalem for 7 years before making her way to St. Louis in 1992. She is a survivor of childhood sexual abuse and, later, domestic abuse. She uses her experiences to educate others and to help victims feel safe to come forward and share their stories. A St. Louis area transplant of 12 years, Kelly now considers herself at home with her husband and daughter. Having spent time in Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, and even Orange County, California, throughout her childhood and adolescence, Kelly and her husband are committed to putting down roots in St. Charles, Missouri to raise their (hopefully growing) family. As a full-time working mom, Kelly is focused on navigating the twists and turns of motherhood while still building her career in corporate America. When Kelly finds a spare hour of time to herself, she’s likely doing something active – running, walking, or sweating through a class at Orangetheory Fitness. Or just enjoying a glass of wine!
Stephanie is a wife, homeschooling mother of 4-year-old Osila, sister, daughter, devoted auntie, blogger, entrepreneur, artist, coach and and encourager. She has a background in leadership, social services and education. She wears about 20 hats on any given day, but tries her best not to wear more than 3 at once!
Maria Ines Goncalves is yet another Portuguese mom named Maria (like most of the women in Portugal), but now she is a Portuguese mom in the USA. Born in Portugal, Maria graduated with a degree in Political Science and believed she was not ready for motherhood, wanting to pursue her career and travel the world, although not wanting to live overseas. Guess what? She turned into a stay-at-home-mom of three (2007, 2010 and 2018) and moved to St. Louis due to her husband’s job in 2017. Changes are a pattern in her life and, when she’s not adjusting to another life change, she loves to dance, bake, photograph, sew, draw and paint with the kids. But mainly she loves to enjoy the beauty and craziness of motherhood, her real and most precious purpose in life.

She currently works from home as the Business Director for City Moms Blog Network. She is originally from Louisville, Kentucky but was raised mostly in Irmo, South Carolina. After earning a BS Degree in Sociology at The University of Kansas she moved to Phoenix, Arizona and during her 15 years there she met her husband and started their family. In 2014, they moved back to her husband’s hometown of St. Louis and have loved exploring all the city has to offer for families. A perfect Midwest day for Jessica is checking out the live music and Walk Away Waffles at the Kirkwood Farmer’s Market, heading to Forest Park to check out the St. Louis Zoo or Art Museum, grabbing dinner and ice cream in the Central West End, and heading back home to watch her kids play in the backyard and chase fireflies.
Aliah was born and raised in St. Louis. She comes from a family of community leaders, activists, educators and volunteers. After her experiences in both public and private education in St. Louis, Aliah attended New York University, where she studied Mass Communications and Journalism. She worked in the New York ad industry for several years before returning home to start a family and continue her communications career. Her experiences in both cities gave her a unique perspective on the ways that social, economic and cultural issues impact the growth and development of our citizens and our cities.
In addition to her current work as a crisis management communications specialist, Aliah has served as founding board member of St. Louis Language Immersion School, as a St. Louis City Commissioner for BiState Development, and as a board member for We Stories. Her 6-year-old Quinn enjoys reading aloud from books in English and Spanish from their extensive personal library.
Carol is a married mom with four kids, who range in age from 6 to 16 years old. She moved to St. Louis when she was 12, and except for four years living in Southern California as a newlywed, she’s lived here since. As a Mizzou graduate, Carol began her post-college career in publishing, and then switched gears to teach early elementary. Since having kids, she has been lucky enough to stay home with them. The Kerbers literally live in a barn, or rather, between two barns. They call Castlewood Stables in Ballwin their home, and all of their neighbors run around on four legs. They have plenty of horses at the stables but have also expanded to add a sheep, pigs, goats, a miniature bull, tortoises, a couple of barn cats, a dog, and a zebra. Yes, a zebra. Her 6-year-old has been a zebra trainer since the age of 2, and as a result, they have had some fun trail rides through Queeny Park. Apparently, you CAN teach a zebra to be ridden. In addition to all of that, Carol has always loved to write but had never really given that dream wings until now. She is so inspired to be part of the St. Louis Moms Blog team!
Maddie is constantly trying to find the balance between raising a biracial daughter on her own, being a high school Spanish teacher, and trying to navigate the dating world in her 30’s. Definitely an extroverted introvert, Maddie loves nerding out about teaching Spanish, and you can usually find her reading whenever she has free time. Her favorites include: tacos, coffee, mascara, Harry Potter, scuba diving, face masks, and therapy. Maddie is also a childhood AML Leukemia survivor, and currently has a very stubborn case of Papillary Thyroid Cancer. She’s spent most of her entire life in the St. Louis area, and her favorite things about STL are the Zoo and Imo’s Pizza!
Caitlin Ladd is mom to two boys, Harrison (2014) and Anderson (2019) and wife to George living in St. Charles, Mo. A St. Louis transplant who came to the area for college and never left, Caitlin is continuously busy exploring community philanthropic and cultural diversity efforts which has truly made St. Louis her hometown. As a working mom, she’s eager to discuss balance, embracing a full life in this mommin’ season and what it means to “have it all.” With that, she tries to layer in opportunities for self-care, sanity checks, some Shiraz and most importantly, SLEEP as a mom of two littles.

Jennedy grew up in West County, attended Mizzou and now works as a full-time School Counselor. She is mother to a quickly expanding family of boys, and recently celebrated the arrival of her second son in June 2018. At home, her life moves along at quick pace to a lovely soundtrack of music provided by her husband, Kyle, who is a classical musician and a three year old son, Rowan, who loves to sing while he does everything. When time allows, Jennedy loves a project- whether it be tiling a bathroom, decorating, gardening, meal planning, learning to sew or finding new and efficient ways to manage her household. Although there are some major life-changes coming with a new addition, Jennedy is hoping to figure out the magic formula of work, life and self-care balance. She’ll be sure to blog it right here when she does.
